MOD最近把今年初一直很想看的紀錄片放上去了, 週六睡前找了一點時間來看.

本來是想分兩三天看完, 沒想到一看就一口氣看到半夜把它看完了, 一整個就是我的青春的回憶, 感動到不行.

Rockfield應該是英國最早位於大倫敦地區以外的鄉間錄音室, 原本只是威爾斯農家子弟玩票性質自己錄自己樂團的小錄音室, 後來卻因為可以讓樂團租住在鄉間邊生活邊創作邊錄音而開始名聲大噪. 從70年代以Ozzy Osbourne為首的Black Sabbath, 與Iggy Pop, Simple mind, 到Queen. 最有名的就是Queen的”Bohemian Rhapsody”, 便是在這裡完成鋼琴的編曲與最後的錄音.

80年代, 英國的音樂從華麗與實驗搖滾, 走到了開始有大量電子合成與鼓機的新浪潮與後龐克時代, Simple mind與Echo & Bunnyman的多張專輯都是在這個牛豬鴨包圍的鄉間錄音室完成的.

時間從80走到90, Brip-pop即將要開始大紅大紫的時候. Stone roses這個上電視總是社會新聞的樂團, 在與老東家Slivertone發行了石破天驚的第一張專輯”The Stone Roses”後, 跟老東家鬧翻後, 便在Rockfield住了超過一年, 過著鄉間清新+藥物放蕩的生活, 為了孵第二張專輯.

這也是Rockfield進入90後又興起另一波高峰的開始. 你所聽過的有名英搖團, 可能有接近一半都曾經在這前不著村後不著店的農場錄音室裡待過.

而這些團正陪伴著我從國中到大學的美好90時光…..

The Charlatans是Brit-pop的長青樹, 他們從93年的專輯”Between 10th and 11th”, 到大紅大紫的95年”The Charlatans”與”Tellin’ Stories”這幾張專輯都是在Rockfield完成的

但不幸的是, The Charlatans 的鍵盤手Rob Collins在Rockfield錄製 “Tellin’ Stories” 這張專輯的時候, 不幸在農場的聯外街道, 因為車禍過世, 享年33歲.

Boo radleys這個早期的Brit-pop團, 在95年最紅專輯”Wake up boo!”就是在Rockfield錄製, 而Wake up boo!這首三八的歌曲, 也是因為在農場內錄音的生活而寫下來的歌曲.

ASH這個Brip-pop裡頭, 自以為是Punk團, 但是其實也是三八的不像話的樂團, 配伴我高三的時光.

他們的頭幾張專輯都是在Rockfield錄製的.

因為ASH的專輯台灣幾乎沒有代理(另一說法是第一張專輯”1977″BMG只有引進沒幾張), 高中生的我三不五時就跑去唱片行煩店員幫我訂購, 但是就是一直沒有下文

第二張”Nu-Clear Sounds“專輯台灣仍然沒有引進(也可能是台南這個樁腳地方買不到), 剛好高三甄試上大學後, 跟奶奶去紐西蘭拜訪叔公順便旅遊, 在紐西蘭的唱片行被我看到, 馬上拿去付錢, 爽到一個不行, 整趟旅行連睡覺都在聽, 聽到CD都快壞掉跳針了

另一個英搖神團Manic street preachers, 身為威爾斯團, 自然也有專輯是在這裡錄製的.

Manic street preachers常被人喻為英式Punk的代表, 但是其實他們的風格相當多變. 但是唯一不便的是對社會的關心與發聲. 1998年的專輯”This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours”是我個人最喜歡的一張她們的專輯, 每次廳都會想掉眼淚. 裡面的”If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next”, 是對我大學時期影響很大的一首歌, 歌詞裡式描述西班牙內戰, 但其實是在影射現今的各種武力侵略行為, 令人深思.

至於Oasis的第二張專輯”(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?”, 應該不用多說, 被眾人譽為Brip-pop歷史上影響力前幾大的專輯, 整張專輯都是在這裡錄製的. 在片中主唱小弟Liam Gallagher的訪問中, 也提供了大量錄製這張專輯時期的秘辛, 包含兄弟倆在人家的農莊裡在大打出手破壞家具等等, Oasis迷絕對不能錯過的.

影片最後, Coldpaly做結尾, 2000的專輯”Parachutes”的多首專輯都是在農莊裡寫出來的, 包含”Yellow”, 至於怎麼寫的, 就請自己看這個片子吧!!
